Subject: LW3.5 - some thoughts

Well, I've had LW3.5 a couple of days now, and thought I'd post a few
thoughts about the program. I'll save the questions untill I've
finished reading the manual.
Video: I was originally skeptical about the inclusion of the video,
but it turned out to be quite good. A little boring in places,
and not really specific to LW3.5 however (or have I misplaced
the 'switcher' thing?), but some of the ideas present WILL
save me a lot of time discovering them for myself. I would
have liked to see more KICK ASS anims, just to get the
inspiration level up.
Dongle: Well, I guess it's to be expected, but I'm really disapointed
that it doesn't work with parnet. It DOES have a pass through,
but parnet couldn't work through it. Bah! I have 90% of my
system sitting on another machine...
Manual: It seems thorough enough, although I think I've found
numerous mistakes. It says on an extra sheet that the manual
is actually a pre3.5 version, and this is because NewTek
wanted to release it asap. Does this mean I'll get a new
version if I send in the registration card?
I would have liked the manual to be ringbound, plus I think
it would be handy to separate the modeller/layout parts. I'm
not too sure about having the tutorials right at the start
either - it wasn't until later that I realised the actual
start was quite a few pages in.
Reg: What do I gain from sending in the registration card? I've
registered several programs in the past, and never got any
results.
Bugs: Well, LW seems to crash whenever I try to do something that
requires more mem than I have (8 meg fast, 2 meg chip). Not
too friendly.
Render: Something which has me puzzeled is the way the camera works.
If, before rendering, you select the camera view, I would have
imagined that this view is what would be rendered, but the
actual render seems to come out a little closer, with the top
and right chopped off a little. Odd.
Preview: Where have the load/save preview options gone?
LWPro: Does anyone know of an Australian importer of this mag?
---
Ideas: In any requesters, how about having the RMB scroll the view?
Just like Directory Opus.

It's a great program though. Well done to Allan and Stuart.
